How do you know when your baby needs to eat?
Newborn babies have several instinctive behaviors they use, which tell you that they're hungry and ready to feed. Breastfeeding mamas can nurse as soon as they see these hunger cues. Other people who are caring for a breastfed infant will learn that when they see these cues, they likely have 10 - 15 minutes before baby will escalate up to crying. If mom is available, it's a great time to let her know baby needs her. If not, this is when you would give a bottle of breast milk. Formula feeding parents can also feed as soon as they see these cues. Babies under 6 weeks old need to eat at least 8 - 12 times a day.
